While rendering exemplary social service in the impoverished and neglected regions of Gujarat and performing illustrious work in the field of education, Smt. Ratanben has dedicated herself performing 'Rishi-karya' by establishing the 'Amarbharati' educational institution—a fountainhead of such maternal love—on the banks of the Vatrak river. 

     Smt. Ratanben has served as the most significant and effective totchbearer of change for women's society through the power of female leadership. Born on the 11th of July 1941 (New Wadaj, Ahmedabad-380013), she was the daughter of Shri Surabhai Bharwad, a visionary who believed in "breaking the shackles of tradition," and Smt. Jayaben, a noble Aryan lady steeped in the unparalleled devotion of a wife. Her husband, Shri Rambhai Ratadiya, an M.A. in Archaeology and a B.Ed. degree holder, was a Director of the Gujarat State Tourism Corporation. As graduates of Gujarat Vidyapith, they shared a dream of working in the villages. Rambhai’s beautiful vision was 'Sanskar-teerth'—the Amarbharati institution, located in the remote village of Pavthi in Dehgam Taluka, Gandhinagar. Answering the call of their hearts, the couple left Ahmedabad. Forgoing the allure of wealth and comfort, they established an educational complex ranging from K.G. to College amidst the thorns, bushes, and ravines on the banks of the Vatrak river. Amarbharati is an institution illuminated by the light of education, culture, and service. This institution selected seventeen villages for rural, child, and women's development. For a decade, they walked on foot, traversing dusty paths to lead awareness campaigns in village assemblies. They conducted agricultural demonstrations and experimental farming. As the area was a 'Red Zone' for water, they undertook efforts to improve the economic condition of rain-fed farmers by bringing water from the river. 

     She initiated women’s groups for village sisters and established evening schools, advocating for the creation of new schools. To this day, the village sisters consider Amarbharati their maternal home. In her endeavour to realise the dream of women's education in Gujarat, she has striven for the holistic development of women through initiatives in village sanitation, health, midwifery training, adult literacy, nurseries, camps, conferences, child rearing, smokeless stoves, toilets, and women's tours. 

     Dr. Ratanben has visited many countries. Her multifaceted services in public life are diverse and glorious. She has served as a member of the Gujarat State Education Advisory Board, VicePresident of the Gujarat State Backward Class Women's Department (Gandhinagar), and a member of the Advisory Committee on school programmes for All India Radio, Ahmedabad, and the Women's Protection Home Management Committee. Her appointment as the Honorary Secretary of the Gujarat Seva Sangh is noteworthy. Her performance as an executive member of the Women's Wing of the Ahmedabad District Cooperative Union and as a Director of the Ahmedabad Women's Citizens' Cooperative Bank Ltd. (Mudra) has been illustrious. She has founded several institutions and manages them successfully. She serves as the President of the Gujarat Gopalak Mahila Mandal and the Ahmedabad District Gopalak Mandal, as well as the Jayaben Surabhai Bharwad Memorial Trust and the Gopalak Sahitya Samiti. Her scope of public service is vast. She has made tireless efforts for the upliftment of economically backward children, women, and men. She has remained ever-active for the prosperity of Moti Pavthi and its surrounding villages.

     She has received awards and commendations from several institutions. Currently, she serves as the President of the Amarbharati institution, where her services continue incessantly. Dr. Ratanben’s manifold, unique, and excellent contributions will remain unforgettable.
