The first woman from the Bharwad community to achieve a Doctorate (Ph.D.), Dr. Ratanben Ratadiya, after garnering two decades of teaching experience in institutions such as the Gujarat Vidyapith and Vanita Vishram, served as the Principal of the Amarbharati Higher Uttara Buniyadi Vidyalaya. She has also served as a trustee, an administrator, and a symbol of integrity and values for the children of the Mahila Gram Vidyapith. Through relentless effort, dedication to duty, and a selfless, pure spirit of service, Dr. Ratadiya has carved out a brilliant career. Humility, cooperation, equanimity, and tolerance are the hallmarks of her approach to life; she is a staunch advocate of moral values in practice. These qualities have bestowed upon her a distinct prestige and reputation. Innovation and experimentation are the hallmarks of her educational work. In the field of adult education for the eradication of illiteracy, her services have been like a lamp dispelling the darkness. In recognition of her sincere and long-standing contributions, the Gujarat State Social Welfare Department honoured her with the State Award for excellence in Child Welfare (1989); the Government of Gujarat conferred upon her the Best Teacher Award (1991); and the Government of India bestowed upon her the National Best Teacher Award (National Award) in 1992.
